Instructor / owner

National Speaker Martin D. Castellanos served in American Law Enforcement, at both the United States Coast Guard and the Boca Raton Police Services Department for a total of 34 years. Now an independent educator; he has been instructing military personnel, law enforcement officers, houses of worship, real estate agents, local businesses, and private citizens since 1995.

Marty enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1987. During 27 years of active status and reserve duty; Marty served in Search & Rescue and then Maritime Law Enforcement.

      While assigned to the USCG's Tactical Law Enforcement Team South; Marty served as:

   · Spanish Linguist

   · Boarding Officer

   · Deployable Law Enforcement Detachment Team Leader 

   · Ion Scan Operator

His deployments included:

   · drugs patrols in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean

   · the USCG response to the September 11th

   · training missions in Central & South America

   · special security missions.

       In 1999 Marty was appointed Assistant Training Officer at the unit. In 2005 he was appointed Officer in Charge of TACLET South's first all-Reserve LEDET.

       In 2009 he was recalled to Active status and selected as a Pre-Deployment Instructor at Moyock, NC, in support of the US Coast Guard and Navy operations overseas. He retired from the USCG in 2014.

      During 11 Military Reserve years, Marty's full-time occupation was Security Professional: at first, in-house at shopping malls. Then an armed and unarmed guard for  security companies around Tallahassee. Later, corporate Security and Loss Prevention for Radio Shack properties in markets all over Florida. He was selected for advancement to Loss Prevention Auditing, LP investigations, and LP Regional / Area Management by 1998.

In 2001, Marty was hired by the City of Boca Raton to serve at the  Police Services Department. During 2 decades in the Department, Marty served in 

   - the Patrol Division

   - Critical Incident Stress Management Team

   - the Investigations Bureau's Tactical-Team

   - Hostage Negotiation Team

   - and a brief assignment to the Chief's Office. 

Marty often assisted the Training Staff as an In-Service Instructor and Range Safety Officer. He also supported the Chaplain Team, and the Department Wellness Coordinator. He was a certified Field Training Officer, CIT Officer, and CISM Peer/Group Counselor.

As a young man, Marty attended Cathedral Preparatory Junior Seminary in NYC.  During his police career, he served a 2-year term as 2nd Vice President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #35 Boca before he was elected as Lodge Chaplain for another 15 years. He celebrated his police retirement in October 2021.
 

Community Service:

Marty volunteers as Chaplain for the Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Association, a veterans non-profit organization.

He serves on a volunteer community advisory panel for the City of Boca Raton.

Marty also volunteers as a Peer Support Officer for the Blue Line Support Hotline.

Sometime around 1998, students in a training class started calling him "Uncle Marty" and the nickname stuck at both agencies. He started UNCLE MARTY'S TRAINING & CONSULTING in 2020 to continue sharing knowledge with law enforcement officers, with our military service members and with law-abiding citizens. So that they can help keep their own communities safe. So that law enforcement agencies can MITIGATE their liability; training officers who make it to retirement after honorable careers.
